The Life of Kagawa Toyohiko: I Die Daily / Kagawa Toyohiko no Shougai—Ware Hibi ni Shisu / 賀川豊彦の生涯—われ日日に死す Movie (1990) [WEBRip AVC AAC]

Contribution Name RAW Science Film Museum  (ripped by R-Raws) Translation Perevodildo Editing Paul Geromini This anime is another one from the science film archive, you won’t find it in any database, and even the exact release date is unknown, but because the film’s subtitle reads “Animated film commemorating the 30th anniversary of his death,” we know at least it was released in 1990, since Kagawa died on April 23rd, 1960. This work’s title is self-explanatory, it’s a dry retelling of the events of life of one Toyohiko Kagawa (voiced primarily by Tomiyama Kei), a Christian religious activist from early 20th century Japan, with occasional animated reenactments. It can probably best decribed by Paul’s impression: "possibly the dullest show I have ever worked on, just wall to wall text about a guy who is trying to sell insurance. Still kind of interesting for a minute or two" In essence this show is quite similar to another one in my pipeline currently—Ningen Kakumei (although ...

Tokimeki Memorial: Forever With You / ときめきメモリアル 〜forever with you〜 / Tokimemo OVA (1999) [LD AVC FLAC]

Source: Obscurerips release (WOWmd’s LD, transcribed crossfade subs) Translation check & typesetting: Perevodildo Quality check: MartyMcFlies (LonelyChaser fansubs) - only episode 1 Special thanks to the tokimekimedia fan-site for compiling the character cards and song lyrics. Episodes: Think about you Feel your heart This release includes two interviews with the VAs from DVD extras (lazily translated by me), and “Behind the Scenes” LD extra (with subs from Obscurerips release, not sure who was the TL), but I didn’t include any of the “character profile” extras because I don’t care, and the “Tokimeki Memorial 2 Opening Animation” extra because it’s literally the episode 2 ending with a different song, I don’t know why it was included on the LD in the first place. I’m also sad to note that there are quite the few audio dropouts in episode 2, from about minute 13 to minute 19, but I don’t have the skills to fix it. These subs have quite the history. This show was f...

Mister Giants Eikou no Sebangou San / Glorious Number 3 / ミスター・ジャイアンツ 栄光の背番号3 Special (1981) [VHS HEVC FLAC] + reference list

Image
Contribution Name RAW MartyMcflies’s rip of his own VHS tape. (He also provided the scans for the OP and ED lyrics, which are LP-exclusive.) Translation Perevodildo Translation check NorainuG Editing Collectr Quality check Paul Geromini We didn’t plan it this way, but now this release is dedicated to the memory of Shigeo Nagashima, who passed away exactly one month ago, on June 3rd, 2025. Because this show has been so obscure for ages, nobody bothered to add it to MAL and AniDB, so you won’t find it there just yet. Essentially, it’s just a semi-animated semi-documentary biopic about  Shigeo Nagashima , an influential and beloved Yomiuri Giants player, who just so happened to pass away the day Marty sent me the raw for this show due to losing interest in subbing it himself. Admitted, I did a quick-and-dirty on those subs, both because the audio on that VHS wasn’t the best, and because it’s essentially a baseball anime, and nobody cares about baseball, and only asked Collectr from Or...

[Blasphemboys] Papa Mama Bye Bye / パパ ママ バイバイ Movie (1984) [DVDRip AVC AC3]

Image
RAW: UCCUSS DVD rip (encoded from WoH’s DVD) (or is it a remux?) Translation: Perevodildo Quality check: True Noobow Gamer An RF-4B Phantom II stationed in Japan  crashed  into a residential area in Yokohama in 1977, resulting in 3 fatalities and 6 injuries. That seemingly unremarkable incident that would hardly otherwise be seen as anything more than a 6-minute long youtube disaster documentary material, spawned a picture book in 1979, this movie in 1984, and finally, a statue erected on the site in 1985. Without trying to sound disrespectful to the victims, I’ve seen rowdy drinking incidents that were both more dramatic and deadly than this, yet never went out of their way to make you waste an hour of your time watching the victims live their painfully mundane lives, completely devoid of any features or events that’d make spending your time with them any justifiable, only to show you the disaster in question in the last 10 minutes. This show is like Natsu...

Highschool Aurabuster: Hikari no Mezame / High School Aura Buster: The Awakening of Light / ハイスクール・オーラバスター 光の誕生 OVA (1999) [LD HEVC AAC]

RAW: Domesday-captured LD rip by Piyo-Piyo Productions - includes analog and digital audio tracks; I also kept both for this release, though my personal preference lies with digital. Translation: Perevodildo Editing: Darkonius Superficial QC: Shinjinotikari17 This show was deservedly forgotten for all these years: it’s another one from the obnoxious 90-s “the war between two powerful ESP factions that can destroy the earth, sealed a Millenia ago, is renewed as the “chosen ones” from both factions are reincarnated in the bodies of  ordinary Japanese high school students , with Yun Kouga on the staff, and a bit of yaoi on the side” genre, overused ad nauseum in the Japanese media of the time. In the first 20 minutes it presents you with 40 different characters, filled with vanity, pathos, and superpowers, who all look, sound and feel more or less the same and are utterly unmemorable in their personalities, because they all only appear for a minute to say their three most pr...

[LonelyDildo] Seito Shokun! Kokoro ni Midori no Neckerchief wo / Attention, Students! Green Neckerchief in Your Heart / 生徒諸君! 心に緑のネッカチーフを TV Special (1986) [LD AVC MP3]

Image
Contribution Name RAW PPP-Raw LD rip Translation & TS Perevodildo Quality check MartyMcFlies ( LonelyChaser Fansubs ) Includes the main feature and the grueling “making of” bonus, all fully translated. I am sad to inform you that there’s a good reason why this special remained untranslated for so long. Shows like this make me actually appreciate Haikara-san more. Imagine every irritating, nonsensical, hackneyed element of every Shoujo, you’ve seen, then suck out what little originality it had, water it down, and squeeze it all together into a mawkish bubblegum-like feature-length film—and you’ll end up with Seito Shokun. It is mindboggling to me that the Japanese were for some reason hooked up on this series for over 42 years. Most of the Shoujo manga I’ve read is boring but pretty, most of the Shoujo shows I’ve seen are annoying but light; in comparison, Seito Shokun is straight-up cancer, devoid of any of the mentioned redeeming qualities, and the drawing in all of its sequels is...

Otohime Connection / Princess Connection / 乙姫CONNECTION OVA (1991) [LDRip AVC MP3]

RAW: Piyo Piyo Productions non-domesday LD rip. I would’ve preferred to use the video from Yaoi801’s Italian fansub release because it looks better from sheer bitrate, but sadly they hardsubbed it. Translation: Perevodildo Thusly: True Noobow Gamer It’s another one of those show produced solely to advertise new CD releases of the bands popular at the time that feels more like a music video than an anime, like Eiji / Nineteen I’ve done before. Of the 9 songs featured here (AniDB list is wrong btw, the last two songs from it aren’t in this show), all except for  Endless Rain by X Japan  are totally forgettable, and two from the album  Kanjiteruno  by Pliːz are so elusive that they have neither any lyrics nor recordings online. One I could fill in by ear, but the other was completely indecipherable and is the translation is 90% made up. You you ever come across that CD and it happens to have a lyrics booklet included, a .v2 may be on the cards, but is it really wo...
