Requests

(Previously known as future projects, but since most of those were fulfilled, the page's premise lost its meaning)

If you're here to throw in a RyzakiT-style blind request and see what sticks, don't bother. The show must have a decent raw, preferably sourced from the best available medium (LD ripped with domesday and encoded by wowmd), although okayish-looking raws would fly as well (PPP-raw's non-domesday mp4 rips). ARR and similarly dogshit sources WOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED.
And even then, you must understand that a 70-something-plus-episode show is always a hard sell.

  3. I would like to suggest the 1988 anime show F-エフ as deserving to be subbed.

    1. Hard no. From working on the movie, I know that the characters are godugly and the story is repetitive and dull. That's even before I mention its gargantuan size.

  6. Maybe you could give Sasuga No Sarutobi a chance?

    1. Looks mid and the staff is nothing promising either. But to be fair, I haven't seen it either, so who knows.

    2. "Although it hasn’t been remembered to the same degree, Sasuga no Sarutobi is, alongside Urusei Yatsura, among the most important anime series of the early 80s. Like its more famous contemporary, Sarutobi was a long-running, episodic comedy which would set the tone for the entire decade’s animation philosophy thanks to the extensive contributions of studios such as Anime R, Giants and Animaru-Ya." [animetudes]

At least in this regard, it's a pity that Sasuga No Sarutobi has got no subtitles so far.

  12. One intriguing phenomenon is that Fujiko F. Fujio's SF Short Theater OVA has so far been completely ignored by the fansubbing community.

  13. Since you finished Mahjong Hishouden: Naki no Ryuu in such high spirits, you may want to take on another long neglected GAINAX production, the 1989 OVA Beat Shot!!

  14. How about Tiger Mask? Saw it on your MAL that you liked it and you're competent enough (unlike the other groups that 'worked' on it)

  15. Lemon Angel (YJ Ban) is a nice-looking anime which has fallen through the cracks of the fansubbing community so far.

    1. Doesn't matter if your comment has inline links, there'd always be a ton of better stuff for me to do if there are no good raws for your suggested title. What I sub is decided by WOWmd and other raw providers, not me.

    2. Incidentally, the available raws are as good as everything else I have seen from WOWmd and others.

  18. By the way, can we hope for a new release of the Compiler OVA, too?
