This torrent includes both the original 1991 2-episode OVA and the “Shin” 1992 6-episode sequel.

It was as painfully mid as it can get. Our QC nominated it as our worst project yet.

All the characters’ names are puns or jokes in some other way:

Fukuda Fukutaro (Japan’s Foreign Affairs Vice-Minister) has the same word in his name and surname, and that word means “Vice-Minister”
Kibo Takamaru {希望タカマル}—name means “increasing hope”
Takamaru’s Father Kibo Koen {タカマルの父希望公園}—name means “supporting hope”
King of Champon Kingdom—Zako Takanokami Kaodeka {ちゃんぽん王国国王座高タカノカミカオデカ}—“King” is spelled as reversed “Kingdom,” zako means “small fry,” takanokami means “high god;” kaodeka means “big face”
Kirameku Mirai—means “glistening future”
Kirameku Zugai—means “glistening skull” (he is bald)
Yumega Al Zaemon {夢我アル佐ェ門}—means “at least have dreams”
Yumega Takusan {夢我沢山}—means “have a lot of dreams”
Omoshirogao Zaemon Sugiura {面白顔佐ェ門スギウラ}—means “funny face”
Kitsutsu King—kitsutsu means “woodpecker”
Führer Taiman—taiman means “negligence”
Yubikiri Genman {指切源萬}—both yubikiri and genman mean “pinky swear”
Statues (Jizou / 地蔵) of which there are two in Champon—the characters on their own mean “ground storehouse” and lo and behold—they both are entrances to underground bunkers.

Shichigosan Ceremony is held for kids at the age of 3, 5, and 7. I couldn’t find a way around keeping it untranslated this time around.
